$29.55M ZoomInfo privacy class action settlement

A $29.55 million ZoomInfo settlement resolves claims the database software company violated consumer privacy rights.

The settlement benefits four statewide classes in California, Illinois, Indiana and Nevada.

The California class benefits California residents whose name appeared for the first time on ZoomInfo.com between Jan. 9, 2020, and March 27, 2024.

The Illinois class benefits Illinois residents whose name appeared for the first time on ZoomInfo.com between April 15, 2020, and March 27, 2024.

The Indiana class benefits Indiana residents whose name appeared for the first time on ZoomInfo.com between March 27, 2022, and March 27, 2024.

The Nevada class benefits Nevada residents whose name appeared for the first time on ZoomInfo.com between March 27, 2022, and March 27, 2024.

According to the privacy class action lawsuit, ZoomInfo used personal client information to advertise its services. These advertisements allegedly violated California, Illinois, Indiana and Nevada state laws.

ZoomInfo is a software and database company that helps companies find new clients.

ZoomInfo hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay more than $29.55 million to resolve the privacy class action lawsuit. The settlement is split into four parts, one for each state class: $14.23 million for the California class, $11.69 million for the Illinois class, $2.3 million for the Indiana class and $1.33 million for the Nevada class.

Under the terms of the ZoomInfo settlement, class members will receive a cash payment based on their state of residency. California class members will receive between $108.43 and $216.86. Illinois class members will receive between $145.93 and $291.85. Indiana class members will receive between $740.77 and $1,481.54. Nevada class members will receive between $971.24 and $1,942.47.

Class counsel estimated the payment amounts. Actual payments may be higher or lower than those listed above.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 16, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 14, 2024.

To receive ZoomInfo settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 22, 2024.

Nevada class: Nevada residents whose name appeared for the first time on ZoomInfo.com between March 27, 2022, and March 27, 2024.
