Meridian Heights agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it charged illegal fees and failed to provide habitable living conditions for tenants.

The Meridian Heights settlement benefits individuals who lived at Meridian Heights Apartments in Washington, D.C., between April 4, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2024, who signed a lease or made a rental payment and who experienced one or more housing code violations during their tenancy.

The class action lawsuit claims Meridian Heights Apartments are infested with mold, rodents, insects and other vermin. The plaintiffs in the case say these conditions violate their lease agreements and Washington, D.C., laws.

Meridian Heights is a rental apartment building in Washington, D.C.

Meridian Heights hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay a settlement to resolve the tenant rights class action lawsuit.

The exact amount of each class member’s refund will vary depending on the length of their residency and the amount of rent charged for their apartment.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Jan. 6, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Meridian Heights Apartments class action lawsuit settlement is scheduled for March 27, 2025.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Feb. 4, 2025.

Who’s Eligible

Tenants of the Meridian Heights apartment building at 2801 15th St. NW in Washington, D.C., who lived at the property between April 4, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2024, who were a party to a lease or made rental payments to the defendants and whose apartments experienced one or more violations of the housing code during the class period

Apartment number, current address, Social Security number, birth date, period of residence at Meridian Heights, a copy of their lease (if any) and proof of at least one rental payment to UIP or Novo for their apartment at Meridian Heights
