MI Windows and Doors settlement

MI Windows and Doors LLC has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it manufactured tape-glazed windows that leaked. If you own or owned property with windows made by MI Windows, you could qualify for benefits from the class action settlement.

This settlement resolves the following class action lawsuits: Johnson, et al. v. MI Windows and Doors LLC, Lakes of Summerville LLC v. MI Windows and Doors LLC, and all other cases pending in the multidistrict litigation known as In re: MI Windows and Doors Products Liability Litigation.

The class action lawsuits alleged that tape-glazed windows manufactured by MI Windows and Doors contain defects that allow water intrusion that caused damage to the windows and to the plaintiffs’ property. Some window owners have allegedly already paid for repairs to their property due to this alleged defect, and some window owners may have to pay for future repairs of their windows.

The plaintiffs asserted allegations of negligence, negligent misrepresentation, breach of contract, breach of express warranty, products liability and breach of implied warranty of merchantability against MI Windows and Doors.

MI Windows and Doors denies the allegations but agreed to settle the class action lawsuits to avoid the expense and uncertainty of ongoing litigation. The class action settlement was approved on July 22, 2015.

I was never told and just about all my windows are bad and leaking.
Is there anything that can be done for the people that weren’t notified?

    1. Carol Peterson says:

PS I mentioned how my neighbors windows don’t have anything wrong with them and I have a lot of leaks water in between and fogging and hers looks so nice and she’s the one that told me about the lawsuit and she had all her windows replaced.

  2. S Maroulis says:

I have at least 11 windows that failed- now I’m told they are out of warranty- but was never told about the lawsuit.

  3. John maynard says:

  4. Nicole Oddo says:

Is there any updates on this case??

  5. Travis Zehr says:

I too have been denied after jumping through hoops and countless hours spent on this. I am interested in pursuing action against the fraudulent manner in which this was handled. What a joke this was. They never planned on paying anyone from the beginning. Epic waste of time for all of the victims as usual.

  6. Yo yo says:

I had proof and they denied me also. I think it’s. A money thing..I even appeal and it was still denied?

  7. Nicole says:

Please help I too have been denied after sending all documents about my damaged windows. Who can I contact because my appeal have been denied and my windows are still defective? I should be compensated for all my damaged windows.

My name is Nicole, my email address is nicole532161999@yahoo.com

    Thank You!

  8. Eric W. says:

I have submitted the proof that they have asked for and have been denied multiple times. In my case the windows in my home are MI Windows but the Series number of my windows (1140/1440/1540/1940 and 1100/1900) are not on their covered list even though my windows and the windows of hundreds of other homeowners in my neighborhood have clearly failed. I would argue that if MI Windows does not expand the covered window series list to include the windows in my home that a new class action lawsuit should be brought against them. I am writing to them today with just that message.

    1. Nicole says:

Did you receive any help, because I didn’t? My windows are still damaged and my appeal was denied as well.

  9. Yolanda says:

Any updates…payment distribution, appeals etc thanks

    1. Top Class Actions says:

There is still an ongoing appeal in the case. It’s tentatively scheduled for oral arguments in 2017. However, it does appear that the settlement administrator is going through the claims review process, which is good. But, no word on how quickly claims will be paid. I’m sorry I don’t have better news for you. We are following the case, and will let our viewers know when the appeal is resolved!
