CSX Intermodal Terminals has agreed to a $5.25 million settlement benefiting certain people who were required to provide fingerprints in order to enter the company’s facilities.
The Class is made up of anyone who, at any point between March 29, 2014, and Jan. 29, 2021, provided their finger scan to CSX Intermodal Terminals Inc. in Illinois.
A class action lawsuit had accused CSX Intermodal Terminals of requiring people visiting its Illinois facilities to provide their fingerprints without first obtaining written consent or providing the visitors with written disclosures as required by the Illinois Biometric Privacy Act (BIPA).
CSX Intermodal Terminals denies all allegations of wrongdoing, and a court has not ruled in favor of either party in this case.
Both parties have agreed to a settlement in order to avoid the cost and inconvenience of continuing litigation.
If the settlement is approved, Class Members who submit a timely, valid claim form each will receive an equal share of the settlement fund after attorneys’ fees and other expenses are paid.
Payments to Class Members are expected to be between $350 and $650; however, the final amount could be more or less, depending on how many claim forms are submitted.
Class Members filing a claim will be asked to provide the Unique ID that was on the mailed settlement notice they received.
This Unique ID is not required, but is recommended in order to expedite the processing of the claim.
Those who did not receive a notice or who have lost it may email the settlement administrator to obtain their Unique ID.
A final approval hearing in the CSX Intermodal Terminals settlement is scheduled for May 13, 2021.
The deadlines to object to or opt out of the settlement have passed.
The deadline to submit a claim is May 7, 2021.

This is now 2 years past! Checks were issued, somewhere between $350-$650. I never received a dime! Contact lawyers today, 3/16/2023. Hopefully it’s not another scam where everyone steals our money!
Something coming in Informed Delivery today. Hope its a check and not more forms to fill out.
It was a letter saying how much tax they were going to take out the check when I get it. Now the important question is when am I going to get the check? Did it come already?
It says checks were mailed in November 2021 – I don’t see where anybody received one though. What amount did it say your check was?
I’ve sent in my form same day I received it when will I receive information it’s been 6 months or more
Please add me
Please add me I didn’t receive a card in the mail. Thanks Kevin M
