Actress Leah Remini has filed a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology and its leader David Miscavige over claims she has faced years of harassment and threats following her decision to leave the religious system in 2013.

Remini claims the Church of Scientology takes aim at anyone who chooses to speak out against the organization, while arguing she has become a target since becoming an advocate for people who say they were abused by the religion, reports Law360.

The former King of Queens actress claims backlash she has received from Scientology has cost her work opportunities and cost her “significant and ongoing economic harm.”

Remini argues further that alleged harassment she has received from Scientology has impacted her psychological health, reports Law360.

Remini reportedly argues she has faced numerous attacks on her character since her decision to leave Scientology, including accusations she abused her daughter and that she incited the murder of a member of the religion in Australia.

The actress claims she also missed out on producing an iHeartRadio podcast about Scientology after the church released an article calling the production “outrageous bigotry,” which ultimately led advertisers to pull out of the show, reports Law360.

Remini argues she also has now lost out on hosting a show on the Game Show Network called “People Puzzler” due to Scientologists allegedly sending letters to the network compelling it and advertisers to not allow her to host it.

In another case involving Scientology, a group of four women filed a lawsuit against the church and That ‘70s Show actor Danny Masterson in January 2020 over claims Masterson sexually assaulted them and then harassed and stalked them after they went to the authorities.
