E-ZPass website class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Ahmed Hassan filed a class action lawsuit against the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA) and Conduent Incorporated.
- Why: Hassan claims the TBTA approved the structure and design of a website that he alleges prevents drivers with E-ZPass transponders from being able to find if they have an open toll violation.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York federal court.
Consumers with E-ZPass transponders in their vehicles are unable to find their toll violations on a website set up for that purpose by Conduent Incorporated on behalf of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA), a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Ahmed Hassan claims the TBTA — an affiliate agency of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) — approved the structure and design of the allegedly ineffective website.
Hassan argues drivers are prevented from finding if they have an open toll violation through the website since the violations are allegedly not often displayed on their account dashboards, among other things.
“When (E-ZPass) users attempt to ensure their good standing with E-ZPass by checking their online account, they are prevented from adequately doing so,” the E-ZPass class action states.
Hassan argues the website is also set up in a way that forces a driver to know their toll violation number in order to find it online.
Drivers with E-ZPass forced to conduct series of searches to try to find toll violations, class action says
Drivers are ultimately forced to perform a series of searches while sifting through a number of possible violation dates if they want to be able to possibly find an active violation, according to the E-ZPass class action.
“The result is that users who may not receive the violation notices by mail are prevented from complying with their obligations even though they otherwise attempt to,” the E-ZPass class action states.
Hassan wants to represent a New York class and multistate class of persons in New Jersey and Connecticut who experienced issues when using the TBTA’s website in an attempt to find if they had toll violations.
The TBTA and Conduent Inc. are accused of unjust enrichment and breach of contract, and of violating New York General Business Law, among other things.
The plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting an award of monetary, statutory and/or punitive damages for himself and all class members.
A separate class action lawsuit was filed against the MTA in 2018 by a consumer arguing the agency charged excessive fees for toll violations for drivers who used E-ZPass and Tolls-By-Mail.

Im looking to be apart of this as I’ve been affected.
I would like to join this class action lawsuit. Please someone advise me. I have experience the same situation. This situation has left me stress and very depressed. I have been over charged, never properly billed. There is no access to review any bill. They make false agreements with you. take your money and void on all agreements made.
I have been going through so much since April 2025 and they continue to charge me erroneous charges with no details. I have spent months , days and hours calling and i no longer know what to do. If I don’t pay I will have my registration suspended and more fees added along with invalid debt being sent to an agency ruining my credit. This is unacceptable!!
