Canadian attorneys have secured a $215,000 class action settlement to resolve claims that Festival Metro Metro tickets included hidden fees.
The settlement benefits Quebec consumers who bought a ticket (Weekend Pass or VIP Pass) for the Festival Metro Metro scheduled for May 18 and 19, 2019, who paid an additional amount for service and delivery fees, and who paid a price higher than the initially announced prices.
The Metro Metro Festival was a large hip hop event which included a variety of big names such as Cardi B, Tyga, and Snoop Dogg. The festival was held in Montreal this year and will reportedly be returning in 2020 after huge successes.
Weekend pass tickets were reportedly advertised at $170 while VIP tickets were advertised at $300. However, according to a Metro Metro Festival class action lawsuit, consumers were charged taxes, service fees of $26.75, and a delivery fee of $26.50 which significantly increased the prices from the advertised amounts.
Consumers in the Metro Metro Festival class action claim that they were deceived by the advertised prices which were allegedly not applicable due to the extreme fees charged upon purchasing.
The festival has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to resolve the claims against them by paying $215,000 in order to refund consumers.
Under the Metro Metro Festival class action settlement, eligible consumers can collect $20 per Weekend Pass purchased or $35 per VIP Pass purchased.
No Claim Form is required in order to benefit from the settlement, refunds will be automatically given to eligible consumers within 10 days of the settlement’s final approval.
The deadline for exclusion is Dec. 30, 2019. The deadline for objection is Jan. 6, 2020. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2020.
