Honda recall overview:

  • Who: Honda issued a recall for more than 200,000 model year 2023-2024 Honda Passport and model year 2023-2025 Honda Pilot vehicles.
  • Why: The automaker initiated the recall because the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe could separate, causing a fuel leak.
  • Where: The Honda fuel leak recall affects Honda Pilot and Passport vehicle owners nationwide.

Honda issued a recall for more than 200,000 of its Honda Passport and Honda Pilot vehicles over concerns they could develop a fuel leak.

The recall involves 205,760 model year 2023-2024 Honda Passport vehicles and model year 2023-2025 Honda Pilot vehicles.

In the recall notice, Honda says the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe could potentially separate in the recalled Passport and Pilot vehicles, allowing fuel to leak and creating a fire risk.

“A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire,” the Honda fuel leak recall says.

Honda dealers to replace fuel filler neck tube, pipe, as needed

Honda says it plans to remedy the issue by having its dealers repair the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe in the recalled Pilot and Passport vehicles as necessary, according to the recall.

The automaker says it expects to mail recall notification letters to vehicle owners Jan. 6, 2025, the recall notice states.

Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact Honda at 888-234-2138 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

A group of Honda vehicle owners filed a class action lawsuit against the automaker last month over claims it sold certain vehicles with defective white paint that can peel and flake.

    I own a Honda CRV 2017

  2. Curtis Lubben says:

I own a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring vehicle. Last week I attempted to pour in an injector cleaner. It all ran onto the pavement.

  3. Lisa says:

I just purchased a 2019 Honda Civic touring edition. Within 2 weeks. I had the car back into the dealership with the smell of gas. They said that there wasn’t an issue at that point. I must be smelling gas from something else. I was still smelling the gas a week later and I took it back. They sent me to the Honda dealership which informed me that there was a fuel pump recall on those particular years of vehicles. I have since talked with Honda a few times and they do not have any fuel pumps to replace a recalled ones?

    1. Deb says:

I was told the same thing at my local Honda dealership. They don’t have fuel pumps to replace, yet there is an open recall for it on my 2019 Passport.
