What Is a Closed Settlement?

A Closed Settlement is a class action settlement with a claim filing deadline that has already passed. You can find a list of these settlements by hovering your cursor over the Settlements tab on the Top Class Actions Website and clicking on “Closed Settlements.”

All class action settlements that we’ve reported on automatically move from the Open Settlements section to the Closed Settlements section after the claim filing deadline has passed.

How Can I Find More Information About a Closed Settlement?

Our team is constantly reviewing court documents and news outlets to find the latest updates about all of the settlements we cover. Our readers are also a great source of information, as many of them will let us know about any communication they have received from a Settlement Administrator. We also love to hear from our readers who have received settlement checks! As soon as we learn about a settlement update, we will post a new article and/or add a comment to a previous article with the latest information.

To make sure you don’t miss out on any updates, keep checking TopClassActions.com or sign up for our free newsletter. You can also mark an article as a “Favorite” using your free Top Class Actions account to receive notifications when it is updated.

If a Settlement Is Listed as Closed, Is It Always Too Late to Submit a Claim?

Once the filing deadline of a class action settlement has passed, it will be reclassified in our system as a Closed Settlement. In the vast majority of cases this means that anyone who didn’t submit a claim before the deadline is out of luck. However, there are some instances in which a court extends the claim filing deadline.

We do our best to keep up with every single update, but we are not settlement administrators and so we are not always informed immediately about any changes. Your best bet is to visit the official settlement website to confirm that the filing deadline has passed. And if you find out that a settlement marked on Top Class Actions as closed is still accepting claims, please let us know! We’ll update our post and let our readers know about the new filing deadline.

My mother has been on Benicar for over 10 years, but started having severe, chronic, diarrhea about 2 years ago. She lost over 65 pounds, was hospitalized twice and almost died before a doctor made the connection to Benicar. Come to find out, there was a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer of Benicar, but it closed years ago. My mother had legitimate damages due to this drug. Is there any remedy for her other than to attempt to sue the manufacturer outside of the closed class action suit? She doesn’t have the money to do that, unfortunately.
