Stevens Johnson Syndrome Lawsuits Filed by Dilantin, Zithromax, Chantix and other Medication Users
By John Curran
While recent Stevens-Johnson Syndrome lawsuits have argued that antiepileptic drugs including Lamictal (lamotrigine) and Dilantin (phenytoin) have caused the severe skin disorder, a recent SJS lawsuit alleges that the popular prescription antibiotic Zithromax (azithromycin) can also be a risky proposition for patients. In addition, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome lawsuit attorneys are accusing Zithromax manufacturer, Pfizer, of not properly warning users of the side effect.
A Florida child suffered from severe swelling of her mouth, throat and eyelids after taking the medication, which doctors attributed to Zithromax Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Plaintiffs have also made similar claims in Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis lawsuits that a more severe form of the disease, where the entire top layer of the skin can separate on parts of the body, has been attributed to Zithromax or Z-Pak, as it’s commonly called. Unfortunately, the number of drugs that can cause Stevens Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis is high, and does not just include anti-epileptics or Zithromax.
Chantix, the smoking cessation aid, is also the subject of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome lawsuits. In addition to Chantix side effects like fatigue, blurry mind and even narcoleptic-like symptoms, the skin disease is also a threat. Worse for some patients, those born with allergic rashes will find it difficult to detect the initial symptoms of Chantix Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, because it starts out as a rash similar in size and color to the one they had when they were born.
It’s becoming even more difficult to avoid the risk of Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis side effects from medications as well. The pharmaceutical company Shire has a new ADHD treatment, Vyvance, that is up for FDA review. The company is hoping it can be advertised for use by children aged 6-17, in spite of the risk for Stevens-Johnson Syndrome side effects. It has already been approved for use by adults as an ADHD maintenance treatment.
Families with a SJS or TEN side effects sufferer aren’t alone, whether they took Dilantin, Zithromax, Z-Pak, Chantix or other medications. A Stevens Johnson Syndrome attorney can provide you with a Free Review of your legal options and advise you whether or not to pursue a Dilantin SJS lawsuit, Zithromax SJS lawsuit, Dilantin TEN lawsuit or Z-Pak TEN lawsuit.

…Chantix needs to be recalled. The side effects are HORRENDOUS and TOO MANY people have SUFFERED because of Pfizer’s consiousless (sp?), greed!
