An Ametek lawsuit settlement resolves claims the company exposed certain individuals to toxic contamination from waste materials stored below ground at its El Cajon, California, facility.
The settlement benefits a variety of people who lived in El Cajon’s mobile home parks or attended elementary school in the area between Jan. 1, 1963, and April 14, 2020. More information about eligible class members is available in the “Who’s Eligible” section below.
Two Ametek waste materials class action lawsuits are resolved through the recent settlement deal. Plaintiffs in the case claimed that certain residents of El Cajon were exposed to dangerous chemicals via Ametek’s negligence.
Between 1963 and 1983, manufacturing materials were allegedly placed in an in-ground tank at an El Cajon Ametek facility.
Although the tank has since been removed, the toxic chemicals allegedly contaminated the surrounding groundwater and soil. As a result, locals were reportedly exposed to the dangerous materials including Trichloroethylene (TCE).
TCE is a volatile ingredient that was formerly used in a variety of manufacturing processes. However, the material was banned in 1977 after it was found to be a carcinogen.
According to the Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry, TCE is associated with a variety of cancers including kidney cancer, liver cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

14 thoughts onCalifornia Ametek waste materials contamination class action settlement
How do I get contact information for Class Counsel? I need to speak to someone about a similar issue in another mobile home park in San Diego County that’s been largely ignored by Park Management.
Shame on the court system for not holding Ametek responsible and providing a better settlement. My husband was diagnosed with cancer because lived on this plume for more than 16 years and Ametek does not want to take accountability for their mistake. So many people were/are affected by this.
I lived there for over 2 years. Starlight Mobile Home Park, 351 E Bradley Ave., El Cajon, CA 92021
