Unum Insurance Claim Denial Lawsuits Continue to Grow

Unum insurance has a long history of dishonest claim denial practices that have drained hardworking Americans out of billions of dollars in insurance benefits they paid for. A multi-state investigation found that, since 1995, Unum, UnumProvident and its subsidiaries have engaged in a systematic practice of terminating and denying legitimate insurance claims. Two years later, in December 2006, an UnumProvident lawsuit found the Vice President of UnumProvident Corp. guilty of federal charges including making false statements, rigging insurance policies to collect a higher commission, and making secret payments to brokers.
Numerous Unum claim denial lawsuit settlements have been reached over the years, but the company is still being accused of refusing to pay out legitimate disability insurance benefit claims.
