Update from the President and CEO of Top Class Actions

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a terrific Memorial Day! I’m writing this on while my girls are clamoring to jump into our pool on this hallowed holiday. Every year I’m thankful for our veterans. Every year I’m thankful for my Dad’s service. Every year I’m thankful my Dad made it back from Vietnam and didn’t become a name on the Wall.

I grew up looking at my Dad’s slides of pictures he took while in Vietnam. Dad would crack open his Army trunk and put together the big screen and projector. Dad would show us pictures of this beautiful green country and tell us stories about living life in a country torn apart by war. Some people were happy the Americans were there. Many weren’t. Often times our troops wouldn’t know if they were friend or foe when they came upon Vietnamese in the jungle rice paddies until they were being shot at (or ignored as the farmers went about their business.) My Dad went by one fire support base and waved to the guards as they passed. A few days later they went by it again but it was burned out and abandoned after getting hit by a barrage of mortar fire the night before. Thankfully my Dad wasn’t at the fire support base when they came under fire. My Dad made some lifelong friends in the Army. I got the pleasure of meeting some of them growing up. One of his friends, “Big Al”, was a close enough family friend that he operated my Dad’s knee when he tore it learning to ski with the family, and that same “Big Al” set my arm when I broke it playing in the creek at his house! I’m thankful that my Dad was able to pass on the lessons he learned about building strong friendships that last a lifetime.

Our veterans, and heroes who paid the ultimate price for freedom, I thank you! Thank you for serving our country! Thanks for coming home, meeting Mom, and making me Dad! A change in plans for the Viet Cong, hitting the fire support base just a day or two early could have ended my life before it began! We can never forget our fallen warriors.
