New Gastrointestinal Internal Bleeding Pradaxa Lawsuit

By Scott Hardy

Pradaxa pill box internal bleeding lawsuit lawyerA retired teacher and veteran has filed a new lawsuit against Boehringer Ingelheim alleging their drug Pradaxa caused him massive, uncontrollable, gastrointestinal internal bleeding. Frank Sardinha’s Pradaxa lawsuit alleges that started taking Pradaxa in January, 2011 and within weeks he was in the hospital.
Frank was suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding and due to his use of Pradaxa the doctors couldn’t control the bleeding. The massive internal bleeding resulted in severe blood loss and Frank being hospitalized for eight days.
Uncontrollable internal bleeding is alleged to be a common side effect of Pradaxa. This side effect is why patients are filing lawsuits alleging that Pradaxa has serious, and unadvertised, side effects which may kill them. Pradaxa internal bleeding or hemorrhage lawsuits typically allege that Boehringer Ingelheim did not adequately inform patients and their prescribing doctors of the risks of uncontrollable bleeds associated with Pradaxa usage, nor did Boehringer Ingelheim warn or otherwise advise on how to intervene and stabilize a patient should a bleed occur during. Pradaxa hemorrhage lawsuits allege that the only way to control internal bleeding via medication is to flush the patient’s system of Pradaxa via dialysis which can take hours. While a patient is on dialysis they may bleed out and die or require multiple blood transfusions to survive. Doctors are looking for alternative ways to stop Pradaxa patients from bleeding out.
Thankfully in Frank’s case Pradaxa usage did not result in his death. Frank suffered “uncontrollable and prolonged bleeding and other injuries as a result of taking Pradaxa” alleges Frank’s Pradaxa lawsuit but he survived. Sadly, some victims die after taking Pradaxa and suffering internal bleeding or hemorrhage. After intense treatment from his doctors and a lengthy hospital stay Frank was released.
Frank’s Pradaxa internal bleeding lawsuit alleges that Boehringer Ingelheim negligently designed Pradaxa and didn’t provide adequate safety warning to Frank, his family, or his doctor. In Frank’s case his attorneys recommended filing an individual lawsuit rather than a Pradaxa class action lawsuit.
Pradaxa patients may be experiencing internal bleeding if they have pink or brown urine, red or black stools, bruises that happen without a known cause and may get larger, if they are coughing up blood or blood clots and/or vomiting blood or their vomit includes particles that look like coffee grounds. If you or a family member are taking, or were taking Pradaxa or a blood thinner medication, and experienced internal bleeding or hemorrhage, you may be able to file a lawsuit to help you pay for your expenses, pain and suffering, and recovery.
