Pradaxa Connected to 459 Deaths in Just Three Months
By Scott Hardy
The last three months of 2011 was especially dangerous for at least 459 people who died while, or after, taking Pradaxa. Pradaxa (dabigatran) is a blood thinner medication used to reduce the risk of blood clots forming in the body and causing a stroke. The issue is that the FDA has found that patients who use Pradaxa are far more likely to have a “serious bleeding event” compared to those who aren’t on the drug.
Pradaxa users reported more than 3,000 cases of side effects from Pradaxa in just the last three months of 2011 and filed more Pradaxa lawsuits and Pradaxa class action lawsuits than ever before. The 3,000 reports of Pradaxa side effects included 459 deaths, 69 disabilities, and 1,331 hospitalizations all due to Pradaxa. Many of the users of Pradaxa have already contacted a Pradaxa attorney for assistance filing a lawsuit to cover their treatment, pain and suffering. Pradaxa users are are reporting serious complications like unusual bleeding from the gums, frequent nose bleeds, menstrual or vaginal bleeding that is heavier than usual, bleeding that is severe and may not be controlled, pink or brown urine (possible signs of internal bleeding), red or black stools (which may look like tar and another sign of internal bleeding), bruises that happen without a known cause and may get larger, coughing up blood or blood clots (another sign of internal bleeding) and/or vomiting blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds (yet another sign of internal bleeding.) Pradaxa users who experience these side effects should contact their doctor immediately and also contact a Pradaxa attorney to see if they are eligible to participate in the Pradaxa class action lawsuit or file an individual Pradaxa personal injury lawsuit.
There are many known side effects to Pradaxa and attorneys are pursuing multiple Pradaxa class action lawsuits as well as Pradaxa personal injury lawsuits to help those who have been affected adversely by the drug. Pradaxa continues to be an incredible seller for Boehringer Ingelheim and sales have surpassed $1 billion even though hundreds of deaths were connected to its use last year, and hundreds more are expected to be reported expected this year, with thousands of Pradaxa users escaping with their lives but suffering through severe internal bleeding requiring hospitalization. These patients are filing Pradaxa class action lawsuits and Pradaxa personal injury lawsuits every week. The Pradaxa lawsuits are expected to amount to hundreds of millions of dollars in claims for Pradaxa users if the cases go to trial.
