Honda class action lawsuit

A class action settlement has been reached in the Honda Civic brake pad class action lawsuit, resolving claims that American Honda Motors Co. knowingly installed defective brake pads in 2006-2011 Honda Civic, DX, and LX vehicles and allegedly did not honor the warranty by refusing to fix or replace the defective brake pads.

Named plaintiffs Stacie Zakskorn, Rachelle Schreiber, and Javier Hidalgo filed this Honda Civic brake pad class action lawsuit in October 2011 alleging the front brake pads installed in certain model Honda vehicles prematurely wear out, usually anywhere between 7,500 to 15,000 miles. Because of the alleged brake pad defect, owners of these Honda vehicles are required to replace their brake pads more frequently than the average for properly functioning brake systems.

Additionally, the plaintiffs of the Honda Civic brake pad class action lawsuit further allege the car company failed to repair the brake defect under their “Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty,” although the brakes are allegedly defective in its material, manufacturing, and workmanship.

Honda denies all wrongdoing in regards to the allegations brought forth in the Honda Civic brake pad class action lawsuit. However, the company has decided to settle in order to avoid further court and attorney expenses, as well as the uncertainty of future litigation.

I have 2009 civic DX and was never informed of class action lawsuit. Local Honda dealer never informed me of any brake problems but I stopped going there after Mom’s 2006 civic had class action for defective rear control arms. -3.0 degrees camber was wearing out both rear tires on inside edge with less than 15000 miles on brand new Michelin tires. Car had TSB# 08-001 for the problem and a lawsuit and she was never informed from Honda .It cost her $675 to fix but I quit trusting Honda and went to alignment specialist. Every time we went to dealer and complained of loud roaring noise in rear they said tires needed alignment or replacing .All along knowing about Technical service bulletin and bad control arms.

I filed a claim but it was denied because I did not have the receipt. It took a while for the dealer to provide me with the receipt. I now have it. Is it too late.

I am a 2007 Honda Civic owner, and I’m interested to see just how many Honda owners out there have been denied class action settlements granted to them by the authority of the court? My research shows its in the thousands for EVERY Honda class action settlement out there- no matter the make or model the court signed off as being entitled. Honda not only uses corporate status when disregarding the little people upholding their heavy net worth, but they mock the very judges once made to stand before. Where is the class action lawsuit for this? Honda does what they want, and I pray everyday justice shows up and takes this right away.

I received a letter saying that I would be getting $106.00 back. How can I find out when or if I will receive it.

  6. Mark says:

I submitted a valid form along with their mail out card. Also included repair shop receipts, but today received denied notice. What a ripoff!!! Will have to get on the horn tomorrow. Total BS!

    1. Stacey Marie says:

Mark I’m with you, I have to replace my brakes and tires once a year and I’m sure not replacing the wrong wheel barrings they put on with the correct ones (as ordered by the court) supports this issue. I’ve exhausted all resources regarding the settlements granted, prepare yourself for being permanently pissed off while driving the car you work so hard to pay the bank for.

  7. David says:

Does Honda have an Claim Form to submit via online?

  8. Deborah Cox says:

Hi, I believe this faulty break pad problem affects other model’s as well. I now have my second Honda Pilot, and with both the brakes seem to wear down way to fast. Does anyone else have a Pilot and the same problem?

  9. Daming says:

Hi, I own a 2009 Honda Civic EX, and have experienced earlier degredation of my brake pads as well. I was wondering why the EX trim was not included as part of the class action lawsuit?
