A $10.5 million settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit alleging Black Warrior Electric Membership Corporation failed to distribute โexcess revenuesโ as provided by Alabama law. If you are a current or former member of Black Warrior, you may be entitled to a cash payment from the class action settlement.
Black Warrior is an electric membership cooperative that provides electrical service to businesses and residents in certain Alabama counties. The class action lawsuit alleges Black Warrior violated Alabama law by failing to distribute โexcess revenuesโ as required by section 37-6-20 of the Alabama Code.
Black Warrior denies the allegations and maintains that it did not violate the law. However, it agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid the cost and risk of trial.
