A class action settlement has been reached over allegations California customers were improperly asked for their personal identification information while paying with a credit card at Pier 1 Imports stores in California.
If you, between March 2, 2010 and May 1, 2011, purchased merchandise from a California Pier 1 Imports store and were asked for information such as your ZIP code, address, telephone number and/or email address when you paid with a credit card, you could be eligible for benefits from the Pier 1 class action settlement.
This Pier 1 class action settlement resolves several coordinated class action lawsuits that accuse the retailer of violating the Song-Beverly Credit Card Act of 1971 by requesting and recording personal identification information from customers who used a credit card to pay for merchandise.
Pier 1 denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid the cost of trial.
Last year, Pier 1 reached a similar settlement in a class action lawsuit (Anne Miller v Pier 1 Imports (U.S. Inc.) involving Massachusetts residents.
