If you purchased goods at a Verizon GoWireless retail location in California using a credit card and were asked to provide personal identification information, you may be entitled to receive a $20 gift voucher from a class action lawsuit settlement.
Â
The GoWireless settlement resolves a class action lawsuit that alleges GoWireless, a Verizon Wireless retailer, violated California law by requiring customers to provide personal identification information during credit card transactions. As part of the Verizon GoWireless class action settlement, GoWireless has agreed to not request or require credit card customers to provide their personal identification information, unless the request is related in some manner to a Verizon Wireless service plan, such as purchasing a Verizon service plan and/or updating/renewing an existing Verizon service plan.
Â
Under the GoWireless class action settlement, GoWireless has also agreed to compensate each class member who submits a timely and valid claim form with a $20 voucher good toward any GoWireless product purchase, valid for six months. GoWireless also agrees to remove from their databases the personal identification information of all class members who request to have this done as part of the settlement.
Â
In order to claim the $20 GoWireless voucher, you must have purchased goods, other than a Verizon Wireless service plan, using a credit card at any Verizon GoWireless retail location in the State of California between January 9, 2008 to August 15, 2010, and were requested or required by GoWireless to provide personal identification information, including, but not limited to your address or telephone number.
Â
In order to receive your Verizon Wireless settlement savings voucher and/or have your personal identification information removed from GoWireless’s databases, you must electronically submit or mail a valid claim form postmarked no later than October 29, 2010. The deadline to exclude yourself is also October 29.
Â
The Final Fairness Hearing for the class action case, styled Rudy Davila, et al. v. GoWireless, Inc., will be held January 10, 2011.
