Risperdal gynecomastia

Risperdal gynecomastia, or male breast growth, has caused hundreds of Risperdal lawsuits to be filed against the drug manufacturers. Men and the parents of young boys who have suffered from Risperdal male breast growth have accused Johnson & Johnson of failing to warn against embarrassing Risperdal complications.

Risperdal is an antipsychotic drug approved to treat autism and bipolar disorder. It was initially approved for treatment in adults, but many children have begun to use the drug since 2006 when the FDA approved Risperdal for use in children as well. Since then, hundreds of young men and boys have come forward and claimed that Risperdal caused them to suffer from gynecomastia.

Although gynecomastia is not a deadly condition, it still can have a dramatic effect upon a patient’s life. Some Risperdal gynecomastia patients have complained that the drug caused them to grow man boobs that were larger than a D-cup. This is extremely embarrassing and can cause great emotional harm to young men, primarily between the ages of 10 and 18. It is especially worrisome when considering the fact that Risperdal was originally prescribed to treat a child’s psychotic disorder. Some patients have had to undergo expensive breast reduction surgery in order to counteract Risperdal male breast growth.

Risperdal Lawsuits

After being diagnosed with Risperdal gynecomastia, many individuals have chosen to take legal action against the drug manufacturer. Risperdal lawsuits have claimed that Johnson & Johnson know or reasonably should have known about potential Risperdal complications and failed to warn against them. A Risperdal lawsuit may win compensation for the emotional pain and suffering caused by the male breast growth, as well as for physical damages, medical bills, and other damages.

Already, there have been multiple successful Risperdal lawsuits. Millions of dollars have been awarded to Risperdal male breast growth victims.

The first Risperdal lawsuit went to trial in 2012. Since then, nearly if not more than 1,300 Risperdal lawsuits have been filed against the drug manufacturers after a man or young boy developed Risperdal gynecomastia.

It has been alleged that Risperdal male breast growth is caused by the main ingredient Risperidone, which increases the levels of prolactin in the body. This is the same hormone that causes female breasts to grow. Researchers have recommended that Risperdal be prescribed with caution until more is known about Risperdal male breast growth.
