pseudotumor-birth-controlBeyaz and numerous other birth controls have been, or are in process of being, investigated for allegedly causing women to suffer from pseudotumor cerebri.

Pseudotumor cerebri is a condition that mimics the side effects of a tumor without the presence of one. Its side effects can be painful and affect an individual’s lifestyle. Users of Beyaz or other birth controls who have suffered from pseudotumor cerebri may be able to take legal action against the drug manufacturers.

Beyaz

Beyaz is a pill used to prevent pregnancy as well as to treat acne for those as young as 14. While some birth control side effects are expected, Beyaz has been linked to conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, blood clot, stroke, heart attack, and other conditions in addition to pseudotumor cerebri.

Women who experience pseudotumor symptoms may not be aware that they are being caused by their birth control. Side effects such as headaches, dizziness, or neck stiffness may be mistaken for another condition.

If a pseudotumor victim wishes to pursue legal action against the drug manufacturer, Beyaz users may claim that the drug manufacturer failed to warn them against the risk of pseudotumor cerebri.

Pseudotumor Cerebri

Pseudotumor cerebri is a condition that mimics a tumor. It increases the pressure inside the skull. Cerebrospinal fluid is continually being produced by the body as a way to protect the brain and spinal cord. But instead of being absorbed into the bloodstream, pseudotumor cerebri causes the fluid to build up, and pressure builds in the skull.

Pseudotumor cerebri can cause severe side effects such as:

  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Changes in vision
  • Ringing or “whooshing” in the ears
  • Problems Walking
  • Neck stiffness
  • Forgetfulness
  • Depression

The alleged birth control side effects have gone unwarned by the manufacturers of Beyaz, Yaz, Depo-Provera, NuvaRing, and many other birth control pills or IUDs.

Pseudotumor cerebri side effects have claimed that major drug manufacturers such as Bayer and Pfizer have failed to adequately warn women about the risk of developing this painful condition. Pseudotumor symptoms may be reduced through medication or certain medical techniques.

Women who have taken one of the following birth controls and later developed pseudotumor cerebri may have a legal claim:

  • Yaz
  • Yasmin
  • Beyaz
  • Ocella
  • Mirena IUD
  • Depo-Provera
  • Implanon
  • Nexplanon
  • NuvaRing
  • Ortho Evra
  • ParaGard

Lawsuits may claim that birth controls, such as Beyaz, contained serious defects that show evidence of a manufacturer’s negligence and failure to warn. Plaintiffs may be able to win compensation for the pain caused by pseudotumor cerebri.
