iStock-Transvaginal-Mesh-EthiconA vaginal mesh lawsuit was filed at the end of October and added to the vaginal mesh multidistrict litigation (MDL) that is already in process. The plaintiff, a Tennessee resident, experienced negative side effects allegedly caused by her use of Prolift, a vaginal mesh product of Ethicon Inc and Johnson & Johnson.

Plaintiff Crystal B. claims in her vaginal mesh lawsuit that she had vaginal mesh implant surgery in June 2007 in a hospital in Livingston, Tennessee.

Crystal has a long list of complaints against Ethicon and J & J about the Prolift in the vaginal mesh lawsuit. Her accusations against Ethicon and J&J include counts of negligence, manufacturing defect, failure to warn, fraudulent concealment, and negligent misrepresentation.

Defendants involved in this vaginal mesh MDL include Ethicon, J&J, Boston Scientific Corporation, American Medical Systems, Inc., C.R. Bard, Inc,. and many others. Products which are under investigation include Prolift, Prolift + M, Gynemesh, Prosima, and TVT.

The Dangers of (Trans)vaginal Mesh

Vaginal mesh implants have been marketed as a treatment of pelvic organ prolapse. However, many vaginal mesh attorneys claim that there is insufficient evidence that the marketed benefit of vaginal mesh or bladder slings actually exists for women.

Instead, thousands of women who hoped to treat their pelvic organ prolapse allegedly experienced dangerous results as a result of the vaginal mesh lawsuit.

Thousands of women may have experienced a multitude of negative side effects due to transvaginal mesh or vaginal slings. Vaginal mesh complications include but are not limited to pain during sex, urinary problems, mesh erosion into the vagina, and infection.

Plaintiffs in the vaginal mesh MDL may have experienced one or many adverse side effects caused by transvaginal mesh or vaginal slings.

A MDL is commonly used when dozens to hundreds of plaintiffs are filing a lawsuit against one or similar defendant(s), such as in the vaginal mesh MDL. It helps consolidate the cases and make the legal process smoother and more efficient. Joining a MDL is not the right choice for everyone, and it may be important to speak to a vaginal mesh attorney on the matter.

Crystal and thousands of women may have experienced serious health problems due to products like the Ethicon Prolift.

Vaginal mesh lawsuits and the vaginal mesh MDL seek to recover damages for mesh removal surgeries, time away from work, and pain and suffering. Families who may have lost someone due to vaginal mesh side effects may be able to file a vaginal mesh wrongful death lawsuit.

Some spouses have even filed as co-plaintiffs. Many plaintiffs have already been awarded compensation for their pain and suffering.

This Vaginal Mesh MDL is part of Ethicon Inc., Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation MDL No. 2327 Civil Action No. 2:14-cv-27288 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, Charleston Division.
