LCD class action settlement checkThe LCD settlement checks stem from class action lawsuits that were initially filed back in 2006 following an investigation into allegations the world’s largest LCD manufacturers had conspired to fix the prices of flat-panel monitors and televisions since at least 1999. The class action lawsuits were eventually consolidated into multidistrict litigation (MDL) titled In re: TFT-LCD (Flat Panel) Antitrust Litigation.

Ten manufacturers have agreed to class action settlements that are worth close to $1.1 billion total. Several companies have also pleaded guilty and been convicted of criminal charges related to the LCD price-fixing allegations.

Class Members of the LCD antitrust class action settlement include consumers in 24 states who purchased televisions, laptops and desktop computers with LCD screens between Jan. 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2006.

Although the class action settlement was reached in 2012, distribution of the settlement funds has been held up by appeals. The appeals were resolved over the summer and, at a hearing on Oct. 17, a federal judge gave authorization to distribute the LCD class action settlement funds.

Claimants were expected to receive $43.49 per laptop or computer monitor and $86.98 per television.

The deadline to file a claim for the LCD panel class action settlement has passed. [See our claim filing instructions here.]
