UPDATE: The YoPlus Yogurt Class Action Lawsuit Settlement was approved on June 17, 2013. Awards were distributed starting September 13. Congratulations to our Top Class Actions readers who submitted valid claims!

Details on how to file a claim for the YoPlus class action lawsuit settlement we reported on in February have finally been released. If you purchased YoPlus yogurt between 2007 and 2012, you may be entitled to a cash payment for each unit you purchased.

The YoPlus settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit titled Johnson v. General Mills Inc., et al. that alleges the defendants falsely advertised that their YoPlus probiotic yogurt products provide digestive health benefits that regular yogurt does not provide.

General Mills and Yoplait USA Inc. deny the allegations but have agreed to an $8.5 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the litigation.

Class Members of the YoPlus class action settlement include anyone who purchased YoPlus yogurt in the United States between July 26, 2007 and July 5, 2012, inclusive.

Class Members will receive a $4 cash payment for each unit they purchased during the Class Period. No Proof of Purchase is necessary if you purchased 13 YoPlus units or less. However, if you request refunds for more than 13 units, Proof of Purchase must be provided. A “unit” means a single package of YoPlus, which commonly comes in a package of four yogurt containers.

The only way to receive a cash award from the YoPlus yogurt settlement is to submit a valid Claim Form online or postmarked no later than August 16, 2013.

A Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for June 17, 2013.

I purchased many more than 13 over the years , because I actually liked the taste, but I could not have save all of those receipts.
It was the first yogurt I liked with the creamy consistancy of what we now know as “Greek” yogurt.
I wondered why it dissappeared from the market.
