PNC Text Spam Class Action Lawsuit Investigation

By Kimberly Mirando

PNCPNC customers who received unsolicited text messages from the company are eligible to participate in a class action lawsuit investigation into allegations it violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Millions of dollars in TCPA class action settlements have been awarded to consumers who received unsolicited commercial text messages. Federal law prohibits companies from contacting consumers on their cell phones using an autodialer or prerecorded voice message. Text messages are banned unless the consumer gave prior express consent to receive the messages or the message is sent for emergency purposes.

The FCC also bans text messages sent to promote a product or service unless they obtain your written permission to receive them. For commercial emails (which can sometimes appear as texts on your cellphone, depending how they’re addressed), federal rules require that the email contain an easily accessible opt-out feature.

However, many consumers are reporting they received text messages from PNC Bank, PNC Mortgage, PNC Visa and PNC Auto Loan without providing their express prior permission. If you received an unsolicited text message from PNC, you may qualify to receive compensation under the TCPA.

Violating the TCPA can carry stiff penalties of $500 per violation or up to $1,500 if you can prove the company knowingly violated the law. Millions of dollars in TCPA class action lawsuit settlements have been awarded to consumers as text message spam becomes more common.

If you received an unsolicited text message from PNC Bank, PNC Mortgage, PNC Visa or PNC Auto Loan, you may have a legal claim to seek thousands of dollars in compensation. What # is PNC calling from? I do get unsolicited calls & messages but I need to know the # they are calling from in order to determine if it’s PNC or not.
