Facebook users who are part of a class action lawsuit settlement over Sponsored Stories are going to start receiving emails with the subject “LEGAL NOTICE OF SETTLEMENT OF CLASS ACTION.” Class Members have until May 2 to submit claims to receive up to $10 each from the Facebook Sponsored Stories class action settlement.

The Sponsored Stories settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, titled Fraley v. Facebook Inc., that alleges the advertising program violated users’ right to privacy by publicizing their “likes” without asking for permission or offering compensation.

Facebook denies any wrongdoing, but has agreed to a $20 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the litigation. A federal judge preliminarily approved the Sponsored Stories settlement in December 2012.

Class Members of the Facebook Sponsored Stories class action settlement include all persons in the United States who have or had a Facebook account at any time and had their names, nicknames, pseudonyms, profile pictures, photographs, likenesses, or identities displayed in a Sponsored Story at any time on or before December 3, 2012.

Class Members must submit a claim form online or postmarked no later than May 2, 2013 to receive a cash payment of up to $10.

A Final Approval Hearing is set for June 28, 2013.

I purchased a new 2015 Kia Optima LX with only 10 miles on it from Orlando East Kia. One year later Im being told I need a new engine. I submitted the oil change records but Kia still wants to blame me for their faulty engine. Why should I have to pay $5000 because Kia doesn’t want to honor their warranty.
