whiskeyWhiskey drinkers who filed a claim in the Templeton Rye Spirits or Tincup Whiskey class action lawsuit settlements should expect the checks to arrive soon!

According to the whiskey settlement websites and reader comments on our Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who filed a claim for the Templeton Rye settlement will receive a check on or before March 9, 2016; while Tincup Whiskey Class Members should expect a check on or before April 21, 2016.

If you filed a claim for either of these spirits class action settlements, keep an eye on your mailbox because you may soon be receiving your payout!

Templeton settlement

The Templeton Rye class action lawsuit alleged that the company engaged in deceptive marketing and charged a premium price for the whiskey by stating the product was “small batch” and “made in Iowa” even though it is actually distilled in Indiana.

The whiskey maker agreed to pay $2.5 million to settle the accusations as well as change its labeling to remove the phrases “Small Batch” and “Prohibition-Era Recipe.” Templeton Rye also agreed to modify the back panel of the whiskey label to disclose that the product is distilled in Indiana.

Class Members who filed a claim in the Templeton Rye class action settlement are expected to receive a check worth up to $36.

The deadline to submit a Claim Form for the Templeton Rye Whiskey class action settlement passed on Nov. 18, 2015.

Tincup settlement

In a similar class action settlement, the makers of Tincup Whiskey were accused of deceptively marketing its product as being made in Colorado when it is actually made in Indiana.

Manufacturer Proximo Spirits agreed to pay $425,000 in addition to updating the label on Tincup Whiskey to state that the product is made in Indiana.

Class Members who filed a claim in the Tincup Whiskey class action settlement are expected to receive a check worth as much as $27.

The deadline to submit a Claim Form for the Tincup Whiskey class action settlement passed on Nov. 17, 2015.

Templeton Rye Spirits LLC, Case No. 1:14-cv-07440, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division. The Tincup Whiskey Class Action Settlement is Aliano et al. v. Proximo Spirits Inc., Case No. 2014-CH-17429 in the Circuit Court of Cook County Illinois.
