Product liability attorneys are currently looking for potential plaintiffs to bring WEN lawsuits against the product manufacturers Chaz Dean and Guthy-Renker.

The WEN hair loss lawsuits will likely allege that the marketers put a defective product on the market that caused the plaintiffs serious physical and emotional injury.

Some U.S. lawmakers believe that federal consumer protection laws need to be revamped and strengthened in order to ensure the protection of consumers.

Cosmetics and Personal Care Federal Regulation

Last April, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine and Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California proposed new legislation to reinvigorate the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act. The original Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act governs the regulation and safety of personal care products manufactured and distributed in the United States.

According to the Environmental Working Group, the original act does not require manufacturers to substantiate the safety of their products prior to putting them on the market for consumers.

The legislation introduced by Collins and Feinstein would work to fix these oversight issues. The new legislation would require manufacturers of personal care and cosmetic products to prove they are safe before marketing them to the public.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) asserts that the lack of strict federal regulation makes it easier for cosmetic product companies to take advantage of consumers. An article written by the EWG alleges that the makers of WEN took advantage of these relaxed regulations and placed an unsafe product on the market. EWG claims that the products used in WEN hair products are full of synthetic chemicals that include known allergens.

WEN Hair Products

In an advertising video for Chaz Dean’s WEN hair care products ,he claims his inspiration came straight from the natural herbs and fruits in his garden. But according to EWG the original idea of a natural harvest product changed between the original inspiration and the final product.

According to the WEN label, the hair care products contain two chemical substances restricted by the European Union due to their classification as sensitizing allergens. The WEN label also lists the term ‘fragrance’ as an ingredient. According to the Environmental Working Group, the term fragrance is a generic term used to describe a mixture of chemicals that enhance the smell of a product.

WEN Complaints

The Environmental Working Group notes in an article that court documents show that Guthy-Renker has received as many as 17,000 complaints from consumers who experienced hair loss due to using WEN products. WEN hair loss complaints have not stopped the celebrity hairstylist and the infomercial marketer Guthy-Renker from continuing to sell the product line to consumers.

WEN Lawsuits

Successful plaintiffs who bring WEN hair loss lawsuits may receive compensation for their emotional and physical pain and suffering. Hair loss can be an extremely emotional and traumatic experience for consumers especially when it may be linked to the hair products they believed would help enhance their hair. Lawsuits like these can help hold companies accountable to consumers.
