DRAM price-fixing class action settlementDid you purchase an electronic device such as a computer, printer, DVR or video game console between 1998 and 2002? If so, you could be eligible for cash benefits from a class action settlement.

The Settlement Administrator is currently seeking consumers who have purchased eligible devices. In fact, the following email was recently sent to a claimant:

“Thank you for filing a Claim Form in the DRAM Antitrust Litigation. Your friends, family, and co-workers can also get up to $25, $50 or more if they bought a computer, printer, video game console or other electronic device between 1998 and 2002. Please tell them to file a claim at www.DRAMclaims.com. As you know, it is easy and takes only about 5 minutes.

The deadline for filing a claim is August 1, 2014 and we want to ensure that everyone gets a chance to participate in the settlement. If you have questions or want more information, please contact the Claims Administrator toll-free at 1-800-589-1425.

Under the terms of the class action settlement, Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) manufacturers such as Samsung, Hitachi, Toshiba and Hynix have agreed to pay approximately $200 million to consumers and businesses that were affected by their alleged scheme to fix the price of DRAM. The minimum payment to eligible Class Members is $10, while larger purchasers could receive more than $1,000 from the computer chip settlement.

While no proof of purchase is necessary to file a claim for the computer chip price-fixing settlement, the Claims Administrator may request it at a later time. Save any documentation or proof of purchase that you still have.

UPDATE: On June 25, 2014, a California federal judge gave final approval to the computer chip price-fixing class action settlement.
