vaginal-mesh-lawsuitsAnother vaginal mesh lawsuit has been added to the growing multidistrict litigation against Johnson & Johnson and Ethicon that claims the pelvic mesh manufacturers designed a defective product.

Plaintiff Panzy S. of Ohio filed the vaginal mesh lawsuit after her TVT implant failed and she suffered bladder sling complications because of it.

The surgical mesh lawsuit is seeking compensation for negligent misrepresentation, failure to warn, breach of express warranty and unjust enrichment. The transvaginal mesh lawsuit joins the mounting MDL centralized in West Virginia.

Vaginal Mesh Complications Overview

Pelvic organ prolapse is a condition that may occur after childbirth, menopause or undergoing a hysterectomy. It develops when weakened pelvic muscles allow the bladder to sink into the vagina.

Vaginal mesh (or bladder slings) were designed and marketed to women as a discreet way to treat this medical condition. However, thousands of pelvic mesh patients have reported side effects so painful that the mesh had to be surgically removed.

Transvaginal mesh problems include:

  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Bladder infections
  • Vaginal infections
  • Perforated bladder
  • Perforated bowel
  • Perforated blood vessels
  • Multiple occurrences of pelvic organ prolapse
  • Urinary problems

Often times women who allege they suffered from personal internal injuries as a result of the implantation of a vaginal mesh product file a lawsuit in order to recover financial compensation from manufacturers for the pain and suffering they have endured.

Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon division is not the only transvaginal mesh manufacturer facing large amounts of lawsuits. Currently there are more than 50,000 vaginal mesh lawsuits pending against bladder sling makers all with similar claims of defective design and failure to warn.

Surgical Mesh Lawsuits

A vaginal mesh case list has reported there are 25,024 cases against Johnson & Johnson’s  Ethicon, 16,425 against Boston Scientific, 10,763 Bard Avaulta cases, 1,935 Coloplast mesh lawsuits, 299 Cook Medical cases, and 86 Neomedic vaginal mesh lawsuits.

Transvaginal mesh manufacturer Endo International recently agreed to settle nearly all of the 20,000 AMS pelvic mesh lawsuits with a $1.6 billion pay out.

Vaginal mesh attorneys seek to award financial compensation for victims of bladder sling complications. Economic restitution can help families pay off medical bills and reimburse for loss of work as well as the pain and suffering involved with vaginal mesh side effects.

Spouses may file as co-plaintiffs in vaginal mesh lawsuits and sue for loss of consortium, meaning loss of sexual intimacy which could increase the settlement award.

Families who lost a loved one due to vaginal mesh complications including infections and organ injuries may also file a wrongful death lawsuit that could lead to millions in compensation.

Recent favorable bladder sling lawsuit outcomes which have awarded women millions of dollars in financial compensation may help encourage other women who want to join a vaginal mesh class action lawsuit. Contact a transvaginal mesh attorney to find out if you have legal claim.
