RCI Points Program Class Action Settlement

By Sarah Pierce

RCI settlementTimeshare company RCI, LLC has reached a class action lawsuit settlement over allegations it improperly rented timeshare inventory to non-members. If you participated in RCI’s Points Exchange Program, you may be eligible to file a claim for a cash payment.

The RCI settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, entitled Glenz v. RCI, that alleges RCI rented certain timeshare inventory deposited by members of the RCI Point Exchange Program to non-members, rather than make that inventory available for exchange solely for members.

RCI denies it did anything wrong, but has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the litigation.

Class Members of the RCI points program settlement include all U.S. residents who were members of the RCI Points Exchange Program, either directly or through a vacation club, on or before April 25, 2012.

Class Members of the RCI class action lawsuit settlement will receive one of the following cash benefits, as long as they submit a valid claim form by the deadline of August 24, 2012:

(1) Current RCI Point Exchange Program members will receive a $12 cash payment;
(2) Former RCI Point Exchange Program members will receive a $10 cash payment.

Claim forms and more information on your rights in the RCI Points Program Class Action Settlement are available at www.PointsProgramSettlement.com.

    RCI just totally scammed me and I would like to join a suit–please contact me through this website, if possible. I believe RCI is continuing the practice of taking weeks away from owners in order to sell them, but even more blatantly now than before. I understand that in the past, they kept inventory off the books for timeshare owners and sold those weeks to non-owners for high prices instead. This time they literally canceled a vacation at a popular resort that I had waited for, paid for, and confirmed weeks in advance. Out of the blue, I got an email that said my vacation was canceled–no mention of who canceled it or why. When I called RCI, they told me “that week should never have been available.” Why not?? I had an ongoing search, and when it showed up, I confirmed it. When I expressed my shock that they had canceled it without consulting me, Anne told me I was luckier than others whose trips were canceled “on the day of arrival.” She told me “this happens all the time.” She said she would help find me an alternative “if I was nice,” but she told me she didn’t bother to help those who were angry. I found it so unusual that I called the resort directly and asked if they had canceled my trip. Maybe something related to covid?? They said no. They could see my name and my week and that it was canceled, but they said RCi had canceled it. I suspect RCI found someone who would pay more cash than my week exchange, so they pulled it from me and sold it. Those rats!!! They need to be held accountable for their shenanigans!!

    I purchased a time share in Orlando from Celebration. I updated it twice. Each time paying more money. It has now been purchased by Festiva Resorts. They have taken away my points and only issue them every other year. I know there was a class action suit against them but I recently moved to another state and lost the paper work. Can anyone help me?
