Cost Plus World Market Class Action Settlement

By Sarah Pierce

Cost Plus World MarketCost Plus World Market has reached a class action lawsuit settlement with California consumers who were asked to provide their zip code during a credit card purchase. As a result, anyone who made a credit card purchase at a Cost Plus store in California between September 2010 and January 2011 may be entitled to receive a 25%-off Discount Voucher from the class action settlement.

The Cost Plus World Market settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, entitled Cost Plus Song-Beverly Credit Card Cases, that claims Cost Plus requested and recorded customer zip codes in conjunction with a credit card purchase in violation of California law.

Cost Plus denies any violation and any wrong doing, but has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to avoid ongoing litigation.

Class Members of the Cost Plus class action settlement include anyone who made a credit card purchase at a Cost Plus World Market store in California at any time between February 8, 2010 to  March 7, 2010; or August 9, 2010 to September 25, 2010; or January 30, 2011 to February 10, 2011; and were asked for their zip code.

Class Members who submit a valid claim form will be entitled to receive a 25%-off Discount Voucher for use on a single purchase of up to $250 at a Cost Plus World Market store in California. Cost Plus will also distribute a minimum of 50,000 Discount Vouchers to all customers who come to a Cost Plus World Market California store on one day, which will be designated by Cost Plus, within six weeks after Settlement approval. These Discount Vouchers will be valid for that day only.

Claim forms are available at any Cost Plus World Market store in California, and on the www.worldmarket.com website here.

The deadline to submit a claim for the Cost Plus World Market class action settlement is July 9, 2012.
