benicar-diarrhea-toiletA Benicar chronic diarrhea lawsuit filed against pharmaceutical giant Daiichi Sankyo alleges a Georgia man was made severely ill by the blood pressure medicine.

Plaintiffs Willie and Kate G. filed the Benicar lawsuit as part of a multidistrict litigation (MDL) that has collected numerous similar claims.

Willie started taking Benicar HCT in 2005, his lawsuit says. He alleges that at as a result of using the drug he experienced bouts of chronic diarrhea and other gastrointestinal ailments.

The side effects he suffered from taking Benicar caused disruptions in his life and cost his family financially, the lawsuit says.

The plaintiffs allege that Daiichi Sankyo, and other defendants, failed to adequately warn consumers about Benicar’s potential complications.

Among other allegations, Willie and Kate accuse the manufacturers of design defect, failure to adequately warn, gross negligence, fraud, breach of express and implied warranties, and loss of consortium.

Benicar Lawsuits

Benicar (Olmesartan) is a popular drug used to control high blood pressure. Among the side effects it has been linked to include chronic diarrhea and other serious gastrointestinal problems.

The manufacturers of Benicar are Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. and Forest Laboratories.

The FDA issued a drug safety warning after the agency announced that a condition, sprue-like enteropathy, was a potential side effect of Benicar and similar drugs. Sprue-like enteropathy can lead to chronic diarrhea and weight loss.

Benicar users who suffered side effects have reported chronic diarrhea can last for three to 35 months. Others have complained about nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, and fatigue.

For many, the FDA warning about potential Benicar complications came too late to prevent their injuries. Even then, some claim the drug manufacturer’s warnings were still inadequate.

That has led many of those who blame Benicar for causing their chronic diarrhea (and other ailments) to file lawsuits. If you’ve suffered such side effects, you may be able to file a Benicar lawsuit.
