Chrysler owners have filedChrysler class action lawsuit a class action lawsuit against the automaker alleging that some Chrysler and Jeep vehicles from model years 2006 through the present have defective, leaking sunroofs that Chrysler refuses to fix or honor warranty claims for.

The Chrysler leaky sunroof class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all consumers who purchased or leased a Chrysler 300, or Jeep Patriot, Liberty, Compass, Commander, Cherokee or Grand Cherokee model. According to the class action lawsuit, these vehicles are prone to sunroof leaks because of design errors, faulty materials, substandard installation practices, and manufacturing defects that Chrysler refuses to acknowledge or remedy.

Chrysler owners claim in the class action lawsuit that their sunroofs leak even in routine conditions, such as exposure to rain and snow, or during a car wash. Even parking under a dripping tree can result in a soaked interior, the class action lawsuit claims.

Unsightly water stains, unhealthy mold, and rank smells result, as well as damages to electric circuitry and structural components, the class action lawsuit says. As a result, owners and lessees suffer substantial financial losses from repair costs, lost use and enjoyment of their vehicles, lost time in arranging and obtaining repairs, and reduced resale and trade-in value.

Chrysler refuses to address and correct the faulty drainage tubes causing the leaky sunroofs, or to honor warranty claims for these sunroofs, despite issuing at least 7 Technical Service Bulletins about its vehicles’ fault drainage tubes and leaking sunroofs between 1999 and 2010, the class action lawsuit says.

The class action lawsuit is alleging, among other things, that Chrysler violated the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act. It is seeking an award of damages, costs and attorneys’ fees, and a Court order requiring Chrysler to notify Class Members of the defects and fix the vehicles, at Chrysler’s expense.

The Chrysler/Jeep Leaky Sunroof Defect Class Action Lawsuit case is Miller, et al. v. Chrysler Group, LLC, Case No. 12-cv-00760-PGS, New Jersey District Court.

  5. Dalton M Caswell says:

Is this suit still active? I own a 2017 Chrysler 300S and shortly after I bought it in 2020 with 15K miles it started leaking from the rear handles on the roof, the dealerships would not cover the damages with my warranty and my extended warranty. I paid for it all to be replaced out of pocket. My car is normally kept in the kept. Today is 12/14/22 and my car has started to leak again this time it is coming from the rear and the front, it has also started to affect the electrical and my leather, chrysler refuses to fix it. PLEASE HELP!

  6. BrettS says:

My 2009 Jeep Liberty roof leaks. It’s been to numerous shops and dealerships, but they cannot seem to fix the problem. Just last week, I was told by a dealership service department that the parts to fix the problem are no longer available AND are NOT being manufactured. I have it parked in my garage to avoid rain. Unless there is some resolution, I will only be able to drive this Jeep in dry conditions. How can I get added to “list?. And, what else can I do? I can’t find any shop that is willing to take on this debacle.
