 Weis Markets Class Action Settlement

By Matt O’Donnell

Weis MarketsWeis Markets, Inc., the parent company of dozens of supermarkets throughout the east coast, has reached a class action lawsuit settlement over allegations it printed too many numbers on the credit or debit card receipts of certain customers. If you made a credit or debit card purchase at a Weiss Markets, Mr. Z’s Supermarket, King’s Supermarket, Scot’s Lo Cost, or SuperPetz pet store between 2006 and 2007, you may be able to receive a voucher from the class action settlement.

The Weiss Markets settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, titled Stillmock, et al. v. Weis Markets, Inc., that alleges Weis Markets printed point of sale receipts that contained the first six and last four digits of consumers’ credit and/or debit card numbers. This is in direct violation of the federal Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA).

Anyone in the U.S. who made a debit or credit card purchase at a Weiss Markets, Mr. Z’s Supermarket, King’s Supermarket, Scot’s Lo Cost, or SuperPetz pet store between December 4, 2006 and June 7, 2007, and received an electronically printed receipt, is considered a class member and can file a claim to receive a voucher worth up to $7.50. The vouchers can be used at any Weis Markets retail location.

To receive your voucher from the Weiss Markets class action settlement, you must submit a valid claim form at www.WeisMarketsSettlement.com before August 4, 2011. All you have to do is provide your name, address, telephone number and, if you were a Weiss Markets Club Card member during the class period, your Club Card number. If you were not a Club Card member, you must affirm under penalty of perjury that you used a credit or debit card at a Weis Markets retail location during the class period and received a paper receipt.
