Details: The Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer class action lawsuit settlements resolves two lawsuits that accuse HP of short-changing printer owners out of printer ink.
The HP LaserJet class actions accuse HP of two things: (1) Designing its color LaserJet printers and print cartridges to stop printing after a certain amount of use, and (2) falsely telling users the ink cartridges are “empty” and/or need to be replaced, even though toner remains in the print cartridge and could be used to print additional pages. HP is further charged in the class actions with failing to properly disclose that the color LaserJet print cartridges include an “override” mechanism that allows users to continue printing as long as desired after their printing has been interrupted or terminated due to the toner level in the print cartridge.
As part of the HP LaserJet color printer class action settlement, HP has agreed to contribute up to $5 million in e-credits to be distributed to class members who purchased, leased, received as a gift or otherwise acquired a LaserJet color printer listed below. These e-credits are redeemable for printers and printer supplies only online at www.shopping.hp.com.
The maximum e-credit value you can claim from the HP LaserJet settlement is $13 if you have a Baggett model printer OR $7 if you own a Young model printer. These values may be reduced on a pro rata basis, however, if the total number of claims exceeds the $5 million settlement fund.
To obtain your e-credit from the HP LaserJet printer ink settlement, you must complete an electronic claim form at www.HPLaserJetPrinterSettlement.com by February 15, 2011.

I was suckered too. It’s been six years now….and not a word and not a dime.
This lawsuit should teach HP not to lie and steal the public. Oops, I guess it wont really. But hey, the lawyers got rich once again.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if a group brought a lawsuit against class action lawyer groups for misleading the public? Haha
What happened with the HP LaserJet class action lawsuit??? I filed a claim on time and have not heard anything about the settlements!!!
