Gateway

Gateway Inc. has reached a $1.5 million class action lawsuit settlement over allegations it sold defective Gateway XHD3000 monitors that flicker and experience other display issues. If you purchased a Gateway 30-inch XHD3000 LCD Monitor and experienced a problem with the monitor, and/or it did not perform as advertised, you may be eligible to claim a $195 cash payment for each monitor purchased.

The Gateway XHD3000 monitor class action settlement was preliminarily approved in November 2014 by a California federal judge.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit (entitled Mark D. Lima v. Gateway Inc.) allege that Gateway XHD3000 monitors are defective and experience numerous issues, including displaying green tint, flickering images and lines across the screen, and experiencing complete screen failure. Plaintiffs claim Gateway knew the XHD3000 “was defective in its inception and design, and incapable of performing as represented,” but refused to fix the monitors outside of the warranty period.

Gateway denies any wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.5 million class action settlement to resolve the litigation and avoid the uncertainty and expense of going to trial.

An estimated 5,000 consumers are eligible to participate in the Gateway XHD3000 monitor class action settlement.
