Porsche Cars North America Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that some 2003 to 2006 model year Porsche Cayenne vehicles with V8 engines were equipped with plastic coolant pipes that can prematurely degrade or fracture.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members of the plastic cooling pipe defect settlement include current and prior owners or lessees of a model year 2003-2006 Porsche Cayenne vehicle with a V8 engine in the United States. New and Porsche approved certified pre-owned (ACPO) vehicles from an authorized Porsche dealership are included as Class Vehicles.
Potential Award
If your Class Vehicle had a coolant pipe repair before Dec. 12, 2013, for which you incurred out-of-pocket expenses for parts and labor costs, you may be eligible to receive partial or complete reimbursement for that repair if you make a valid, timely and approved claim.
If as of Dec. 12, 2013, your Class Vehicle has not had a coolant pipe repair to install genuine Porsche aluminum coolant pipes, you may be eligible to receive a partial or complete payment for replacement of your Class Vehicle’s coolant pipes with genuine Porsche aluminum coolant pipes if you make a valid, timely and approved claim.
If as of Dec. 12, 2013, your Class Vehicle is still equipped with Porsche plastic coolant pipes and, within one year from Dec. 12, 2013, experiences coolant pipe damage, you may be eligible to receive a partial or complete payment for replacement of your Class Vehicle’s Porsche plastic coolant pipes with genuine Porsche aluminum coolant pipes if you promptly contact Porsche Cars North America at 1-800-566-9181 to learn how to obtain an inspection of the vehicle and submit a valid, timely and approved claim.
Proof of Purchase
Class Members must submit (1) a clear and legible copy of the repair orders and/or other service documents that identify the make, model and year of the vehicle, the vehicle identification number (VIN), the odometer reading at the time of the repair, and that sufficiently establish that a coolant pipe repair occurred; (2) proof of ownership or lease of the Class Vehicle at the time of the repair; (3) for ACPO claimants only, proof of purchase of a Class Vehicle with an ACPO limited warranty; and (4) receipts, invoices, and other records of expenses paid out-of-pocket for the coolant pipe repair and repair of collateral damage, if any.
If the documents identified above are unavailable, the Class Member must submit a declaration providing the required information and explaining the circumstances preventing the Class Member from submitting the documentation with their Claim Form. Claims that are not accompanied by supporting documents will be rejected if they cannot be verified.

In re: Porsche Cars North America Inc. Plastic Coolant Tubes Products Liability Litigation, Case No. 2:11-md-02233, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio
Case Summary
The Porsche Cayenne class action lawsuit alleges that Porsche sold vehicles with defective plastic cooling pipes, which have or will prematurely degrade and fracture. The plaintiffs also claim that the plastic cooling pipe defect can cause damage to other components of the vehicles’ engines. Further, the plaintiffs allege that Porsche was aware of this possibility but failed to disclose it to consumers. Porsche denies the allegations but agreed to the class action settlement, which received final approval on March 19, 2014.

I just got this happen to me, and they’re quoting me $4,500 for the repair for a 2005 Cayenne Turbo. I think that the trade value is like $6,000 so it’s hard to decide what to do.
Has this lawsuit reopened?
I just had this infamous plastic cooling pipe leak happen to my 04 CTT. I purchased this car used, non certified. When I purchased the vehicle I did purchase an aftermarket extended warranty, but of course that expired. Do I have any recourse in this class action suit? I find it ridiculous that Porsche won’t stand behind these obvious defects. Does the vehicle need to be repaired before attempting to be reimbursed, or is it possible to file for reimbursement before repairs are made? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Were you able to get reimbursement.
I am having same problem with cooling pipe..
Bingo…….If anyone is trying to get info and is unable to get in touch with the Garden Group,I found the 877 # is no help at all, they don’t return phone calls or emails.Porsche Hq in Michigan inform it the only number they have for these guys.I found the Garden Group in not located in Seattle but in Dublin,Oh.Call 800 327 3664.I got a person who have someone else call me back. They wanted proof I own the Cayenne at the time I paid for the repair.I assume they think I pay for the repair on a car I didn’t own!!! This was send to them months ago. This smell fishy, they seem to be in the business to find way to keep from sending out those checks.
