TCA Staff Tidbit: How about three cheers for AT&T Mobility? Hip Hip HOORAY! I think many people who watched those late night commercials over the past few years have been tempted to text XXXX from their cell phone to get the latest ring tone, game or joke but unless they read the fine print they wouldn’t know that they actually subscribed to a service which would bill them anywhere from $5 – $20 per month.

Now AT&T is offering to refund you up to three months of the subscription. What? You tell me YOU didn’t fall for one of those shams? OK, did you purchase individual ring tones, applications or games through a third party provider? Then you qualify for this rebate as well for all of the individual charges as well (not just three months.) Keep in mind that the charges must have been incurred through a third party (no refund for you if you purchased them directly from AT&T) and you must be able to state that you didn’t know you would be charged. If you meet those criteria, hit the website and REGISTER! If you’re currently an AT&T subscriber you’ll end up getting the credit on your bill sometime in mid 2009, and if you’re not a subscriber they’ll send you a check in the mail! That’s awesome! Keep in mind, AT&T can and likely will verify the charges that you claim, so don’t fib. I for one wouldn’t want the great blue Death Star to come after me for fabricating a $3.99 charge.
