I submited a few thousand dollars for this claim (and yes, I have the receipts)  I keep checking the website for debeers and it stills says last updated Sept 17, 2008.  Wonder what the hold up is on this one?  I'm anxious to see how much I'll get.

Does anyone have the case information for this lawsuit and where specifically the appeals are pending?  I'm trying to find out more about this, but it appears to be dormant at this point.

There has been no update to the administrator's website in months.

Is this going forward or did it fall in a black hole?

Anyone heard how long the delay will be?

So far I've heard "first part of 2009".

Howdy David and Jack!
Actually, the settlement is being challenged by a number of attorneys trying to get in on the action. I personally submitted a claim as well and am waiting for what should be a significant payout. I hope it's resolved soon, but it could be months or longer before it is finally settled and the judge approves distribution.

Thanks for coming to Top Class Actions! Sign up for the newsletter for updates on this and other settlements!

  1. Seems that they have updated the "updated June 3, 2009" date on their website but still no payouts. I have reciepts for my purchases as well and would like to know what appeals are pending and when payout may be.
  2. Any news on when the court cases will be settled so DeBeers can go ahead and pay out the settlement money that we, the consumers, are due?
  3. The date of June 3, 2009 has come and gone. I didn't see any news on the DeBeers site that provides ANY insight into when this might all be over and settled. I am disabled; poor and living on a very fixed income and anything they pay us would help me greatly.
  4. They only changed the date on their website becuae I had sent an e-mail to them claiming that it hadn;t been updated since September so they sent me one back refering me to the website with the June 3, 2009 date. Nothing changed....I doubt we will ever see a payout
  5. Seriously, the reason this has been postponed because 12 people are fighting it. Unbelievable.
  6. When will this payout be made? I have sent in my receipts over a year ago. I understand there was to be an appeal. Has that appeal been heard, or is it still pending? Can anyone say for sure?
    Wilbert.
  7. Its now 2010, and they said the January hearing no date was announced. I guess the lawyers are getting all of the settlement. ;-)
  8. Now theire website says it was updated April1, 2010 but nothing is changed on it. Guess we really should just give up on this one
  9. The Fairness Hearing was held on April 14, 2008, and the Court approved the Settlement on May 27, 2008. Appeals were subsequently filed contesting final approval of the Settlement. A hearing on these appeals was held on January 28, 2010, at the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. On July 13, 2010, the appeals court sent the settlement back to a lower court for further consideration. No payments will be made on eligible claims until this is resolved. It is uncertain how long this process will take to resolve. It may take several additional months or longer before the settlement becomes final and funds can be distributed to eligible claimants.
